We are the first brand in the dairy sector in the Balearic Islands certified in Animal Welfare and the only one in Menorca.
The Coinga cooperative is made up of more than 60 farms throughout Menorca that have had to adapt to the rigorous processes and requirements demanded by the animal welfare certificate.
All the farms follow very strict protocols in order to produce quality milk, 100% natural, respectful of animal welfare and the environment.
Milk packaged and distributed on the same day of collection
Every day we collect the milk from our llocs (farms) distributed throughout the island. A journey controlled by our own refrigerated trucks, respecting the freshness of the milk. This way we can pack it with all its flavor and properties and make our cheeses the same day it is collected.
A short journey, less than 30 km, to respect the unique flavor of the milk produced in Menorca, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
COINGA, Best Cooperative in Spain in Rural Development 2021
In 2021 Coinga won the prize for the Best Cooperative in Spain in Rural Development granted by Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de España thanks to our commitment to the territory and to the more than 60 associated farms for which our cooperative is a guarantee of continuity.
An alliance of small farmers from Menorca
Our cooperative was born in 1966 thanks to the strong alliance of small farmers to fight for the sustainability of the dairy sector in Menorca and give a differential value to the production of milk and cheese, under the same guarantee brand: Coinga.
It was a pioneering project. At that time in Spain there was practically no cooperative that integrated the entire transformation process of milk production from the primary sector to the consumer.
Since then we have been in Alaior bottling and marketing Menorcan milk and making the best Mahón-Menorca cheese, which has led us to win more than 35 national and international awards in the most prestigious cheese competitions. In fact, Mahón-Menorca Coinga cheese has been chosen as one of the best cheeses in the world in different editions.
